InterVol, Belize Cancer Center Dangriga & Belize Cancer Society Partner to Provide Critical Cancer Care and Education in Belize

Belize City, 20 May, 2025–

InterVol, a global nonprofit organization committed to improving healthcare worldwide, has successfully concluded a four-day medical outreach program in collaboration with the Belize Cancer Center Dangriga (BCCD) and the Belize Cancer Society (BCS). The initiative aimed to provide essential cancer care, follow-up treatment, and educational support to patients and healthcare providers in Belize.

During the outreach, InterVol’s medical team held three days of clinics at the Belize Cancer Center in Dangriga and one day at the Belize Cancer Society offices in Belize City. The team saw 55 patients, including 26 new cases and 29 cancer survivors in follow-up. Diagnoses included breast cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and sickle cell disease—the most common hematologic condition observed.

In addition to patient consultations, InterVol’s team provided valuable medical guidance to BCCD’s nursing staff, focusing on cancer survivorship, advanced treatment approaches for breast and prostate cancers, and managing hematologic conditions. “It was an eye-opening experience for many of our team members visiting Belize for the first time,” said Dr. Jamshed. “We were impressed by the quality of care provided by the well-trained nursing staff at BCCD, who maintained comprehensive medical records and demonstrated exceptional commitment to their patients despite resource limitations.”

The outreach also included a brainstorming session with the Belize Cancer Society to explore future initiatives aimed at increasing cancer awareness and patient education across Belize.

InterVol’s team expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and support received from BCCD and BCS and expressed a strong desire to continue collaborating to enhance cancer care and medical education in Belize.

The BCCD and BCS thank the InterVol team for their professionalism and support.
