Thousands Join 2025 Belize Cancer Society Walk: “Walking for Hope, United for a Cancer-Free Future!”
Belize City, 24 May, 2025–
In an inspiring show of solidarity and purpose, thousands of Belizeans came together at dawn today for the 2025 Annual Cancer Walk, hosted by the Belize Cancer Society under the powerful theme:
“Walking for Hope, United for a Cancer-Free Future!”
The event began at 5:00 a.m. from Celina’s in Ladyville, culminating at the Belize Cancer Society headquarters in Belize City. This year’s walk marked one of the most significant turnouts in recent memory, as people from all walks of life—cancer survivors, families, caregivers, healthcare workers, youth groups, and supporters—stepped forward to raise awareness and stand together in the fight against cancer.
President of the Belize Cancer Society, Kim Simplis Barrow, delivered heartfelt remarks at the close of the walk, encapsulating the spirit of the morning:
“Thank you for stepping out in strength, unity, and hope today. Each step you take honors the fighters, celebrates the survivors, and remembers those we’ve lost. Your presence shows that together, we are stronger—and together, we will continue the fight against cancer.”
Her message was a poignant reminder of the power of community and the enduring mission of the Belize Cancer Society to ensure early detection, access to treatment, public education, and support for individuals and families affected by cancer.
Participants wore themed t-shirts, and walked with a sense of purpose; we even saw some holding photos of loved ones impacted by cancer. The morning concluded with a moment of reflection, music, refreshments, and a short address by Ms. Andrea Eiley, a cancer warrior.
The Belize Cancer Society extends heartfelt appreciation to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and partners for their unwavering support and commitment to a cancer-free future. With every step, Belize moves closer to a day when no one will have to walk alone in the fight against cancer.
